The "Sleek and Simple" Showroom Vignette
 |
I love this combination of the Corwith Sofa, with it's sleek and gentle sloping arms and tan contrast welt mixed with the Chatfield Chairs in the aqua, ivory and tan Ikat print fabric. The Taylor Ottoman is the workhorse of the furniture combo because it's built for wear and tear and shown in a great chocolate brown fabric and it does double duty as a cocktail ottoman, extra seating and storage below! I painted chocolate and tan stripes on the wall behind the neutral sofa to really make the light fabric pop and give it some life...it would look just as great on an all tan wall or a wall that's painted a pale aqua! I call this vignette "Sleek and Simple" because it's stylish without being fussy or overdone, this would be a fun room to live in! |

This was the most dramatic vignette I showed at the market but I just thought that the Andrews Sofa in the soft gray fabric with cream contrast welt would really pop in front of a black wall, and it did! I paired it with the Jermain Chairs in a wonderful gray and tan key geometric fabric and since the chairs aren't over stuffed but rather sleek and slender the pattern isn't overwhelming. The Dresden Chairs are in a gorgeous light heathered gray solid fabric and the darker gray contrast welt fabric accents the beautiful shape and lines of this small scale but super comfy chair, it's all in the details! The Preston Bench in a java wood finish with a charcoal gray fabric is the final step in making this a dynamic design combination, It's elegant and cool yet still inviting. A quick Libby tip is that if you want to be bold and pull the trigger on painting an accent wall a dark color like this black wall make sure to get plenty of artwork on the wall, that's the thing that will keep it feeling super stylish rather than cold and stark!

This was a fun vignette to set up in the showroom, I used this wonderful yellow geometric fabric on the Preston Bench that was placed at the base of the bed and I repeated it covering the wall to add some drama behind the Elliston Headboard. I did the Elliston Headboard in a rich charcoal gray fabric and used oversized nickel nailheads with extra spacing to add detail but not overwhelm and become too much of a statement. I added one of my super-duper comfy Jermain Chairs in a bold black and white geometric fabric to spice up the space. A bedroom is the perfect place to have some fun with fabrics on a side chair or a foot of the bed bench, so go for it! A quick Libby Tip is that if you want to add some fabric as an accent to one wall in a room but you aren't too handy with a sewing machine your local dry cleaner will most likely be able to sew some panels together so you will have enough width to cover one wall! A bold patterned fabric on a wall is lower commitment than wallpaper, so have some fun and if you want to change it in a year or two it's not a big deal! |

"Hampton's Chic" Showroom Vignette

I call this my "Hampton's Chic" vignette but you certainly don't have to live near the water to like this look. I find that so many of my clients adore this casual, elegant feel that's synonymous with a getaway-weekend lifestyle.... it translates to a very livable design all year round. I've covered the Herrick Sofa in a luxe, tan linen type fabric and the bench seat is what so many folks are wanting these days (if you like to lie down and watch TV, THIS SOFA IS FOR YOU because with the bench seat cushion you lay down and don't fall in between the cushions and the English arm is comfy for a head to be propped up on)! A quick Libby Tip—if you are buying a neutral sofa then have some fun with a bold wall color, I chose navy for the showroom but any rich color you like would look super....and the best news is that when you want a change it's only about $30.00 for a gallon of paint versus buying a sofa in a whole new color palette which would be much more costly! |

One of the most important elements that I kept in the back of my brain while designing my upholstery collection for Braxton Culler was to add some sleeker, updated shapes to the furniture that they were currently offering, but to create silhouttes that would look fresh and fun no matter the setting. This "Ocean Road" vignette was sort of my homage to vintage Palm Beach, I think it's a timeless look in a resort setting and it can go totally coastal, fab and beachy! But probably my most favorite point about this "Ocean Road" vignette is that, if you click on the "Style Setter" vignette (yes the one with the gray sofa in front of the black wall!) you will see that these are all the same exact pieces of furniture that are shown in very different fabrics/finishes/welts and a much more modern setting. It's important for me to have people see how these furniture shapes and frames can work in a sleeker more transitional style but they also translate into a classic coastal look as well. It's all about the fabric choices that are just right for you! It's such a luxury to show the same furniture items in completely different styles. Have some fun and use your imagination on how to best use the Libby Langdon furniture line in your space. |
